About Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month began in 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and a pharmaceutical company, and grew into the global "Pink Ribbon" movement after Estée Lauder distributed pink ribbons in 1992. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide; the month promotes early detection through screening, funds research, and supports patients and survivors.
