About National Ice Cream Month

National Ice Cream Month was proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in July 1984, alongside National Ice Cream Day (the third Sunday of July). Reagan cited ice cream's popularity with over 90% of the U.S. population as reason for the honor. Americans eat an average of about 20 pounds of ice cream per person annually, with vanilla remaining the best-selling flavor worldwide despite the endless novelty flavors that appear each summer.

When Does It Run Each Year?

National Ice Cream Month covers the entire month of July, every year.
