About World Breastfeeding Week
World Breastfeeding Week has been observed August 1–7 since 1992, coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action with WHO and UNICEF support, marking the anniversary of the 1990 Innocenti Declaration on breastfeeding protection. The week promotes exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life as recommended by the WHO, and supports policies like paid parental leave and workplace lactation spaces.
When Does It Run Each Year?
World Breastfeeding Week runs from August 1 through August 7 each year — 7 days.
